Základní umělecká škola, Brno
In 2005 Základní umělecká škola, Brno, Veveří 133 celebrated the 55th anniversary of its existence. From the beginning it presents itself to the public and actively participates in the culture life of Brno. In last couple of years it successful combines all art discipline taught at school: music, painting, dance and drama. The musical productions are ideal opportunity to interconnect all school fields. In 2003 we produced a successful production of the musical The Path by Leoš Kuba and Aleš Kučera, where 140 performers were participating. This performance had 24 reruns for 5,530 theatergoers. It was performed not only in Czech Republic but abroad as well. For example we represented Brno at the Dutch theater festival in Utrecht. Based on the request by Stanislav Juranek we played this musical in Mahen‘s Theater on the gala-performance occasion of the Czech Republic‘s entry into the European Union.
Based on the exceptional success of the musical The Path and on the demand of students of our school we selected another musical ATLANTIDA by our alumni Zdeněk Urbanovský and Aleš Kučera where 209 students were participating. The opening night was also held in Mahen‘s Theater.
This musical was also played many times and gave the opportunity to many young talented performers to step onto stage boards. The show was received very warmly by the audience. In May 2006 we celebrated our school anniversary by the combined show called Baron Prášil.
Because we liked the motive of Baron Prášil we decided to broaden this theme for another full scale musical, the third in a row. The authors of this task are Jiří Levíček and Aleš Kučera. We believe to be successful in transferring the audience into the world of fantasy and dreams.
